White Mountain Cider CompanyName:White Mountain Cider CompanyWebsite: Here Phone: (603) 383-9061 Address: Route 16A, Jackson, NH 03846 Rating: 4 Peaks I have a special affinity for the White Mountain Cider Company, because it is what indirectly brought us to New Hampshire. When its former owners listed it for sale in 2004, Dana and I found out and came to take a look. (This was prior to it becoming a restaurant). In those days it was just a country store, bakery and cider mill, and we fell in love with it immediately! We set the ball in motion to make the purchase … but it wasn’t meant to be (as The Lodge was in our future!). Culinary Institute of America graduates Scott and Teresa Stearns bought it the following year and have brought it to another level by relocating the Rare Bear Bistro, (formerly of the Bernerhof Inn), to the White Mountain Cider Company. They now offer their delightful culinary skills daily. The original farmhouse, built in the 1890's, has been restored and maintains many of its original details. The interior of the house has been renovated to accommodate spacious dining areas that also include a separate room and intimate loft for parties. The dinner menu is comprised of completely house made fare and often features locally and regionally produced ingredients. The menu changes are frequent to reflect this. A full selection of appetizers are also available, but sure to save room for the homemade desserts. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable, and the food is delicious, if a bit rich for my taste. I live off the salad side of menus wherever I go, and here that includes The Cider Mill Salad of baby greens, chopped apples, pecans and crispy shallots tossed in an apple cider vinaigrette; and the Roasted Pear and Gorgonzola Salad with walnuts, baby spinach and balsamic vinaigrette. Dana has enjoyed the Bay Rubbed Duck Breast with Sweet Potato Puree & Apricot-Ginger Glaze for $25; Apple Cider Brined Pork Loin with Mashed Potatoes & Apple Chutney ($24); Roasted Haddock with Lime Infused Cous Cous & Moroccan Carrot Sauce $25; and Porcini Dusted Chicken & Pasta Tender Chicken coated in Porcini Powder, sautéed with Mushrooms & finished with Fresh Herbs & Cream $20. The White Mountain Cider Company is a nice addition to the local area dining choices. Directions Getting to the White Mountain Cider Company is only a few minute drive away. You make a right out of the Lodge parking lot. Go 2.5 miles South of Route 16. At the light make a right and go 2 miles on North Route 302.
