Good things come in small packages, and one of the best things to come recently to the Lodge is a tiny house on wheels called a Tumbleweed. The model we have on display is a Fencl, a 130-square foot cottage with all the comforts of home. In fact, Tumbleweeds ARE ‘homes’ to many folks around the country who have chosen to downsize their lives and ecological footprints; simplifying to the extreme.

One of these folks, the founder of the tiny house movement, is Jay Shafer, who started Tumbleweed Tiny House Company about 12 years ago. The Fencl, one of his most popular designs, is at the Lodge as a result of a contest that the Tumbleweed Tiny House Company hosted this past spring. They were looking for someone to partner with who could host the Fencl on their property. They wanted to make it available for open houses, and for folks around the country to experience it firsthand. Lodge Lady Cathi Belcher, herself a fan of these little structures for at least a decade, entered the contest and won! We now have the house on display here at The Lodge. Stop by for a tour between 10 am – noon most weekdays to see it. Private tours outside of those hours are available for a small fee.
